With a spotlight on McCormick County, the chart above displays the distribution of the net percent change of real (inflation adjusted) personal income across South Carolina's 46 counties over the period 2000-2015.
Those counties whose real personal income growth registered above the statewide average over this period realized an increase in their statewide share of real personal income. Likewise, those counties whose real personal income growth registered below the statewide average experienced a decline in their relative share of real personal income statewide.
Statewide Snippets:
  • Over 2000-2015 real personal income grew in forty-four South Carolina counties while declining in two.
  • Real personal income growth in eight counties outpaced the statewide average (44.69%), while growth in thirty-eight counties trailed.
  • At the extremes of the distribution, Lancaster County posted the highest growth of real personal income (108.01%), while Abbeville County placed last by logging a -6.19% decline.
